The idea

Asia Society Australia and The Australian APEC Study Centre at RMIT University, supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, have developed the A Path to Australia: Opportunities and Market Insights for Vietnamese Businesses report to showcase trade, investment, and innovation opportunities for Vietnamese companies.
The report looks at potential paths for more businesses in Viet Nam to look to Australia to: diversify their import sources and export markets, increase investment, strengthen supply chain resilience, and grow new areas of commerce for the benefit of both economies. Case studies and examples are provided throughout the report of Vietnamese companies working with, and succeeding in, Australia.
The report is to be given to Prime Minister, government officials and prominent business people in Viet Nam for introducing them to do business with Australia

The process

Data are given: Photos that are taken from mobile phones, logos and Microsoft words.
Methodology Design thinking same as the first edition:
Core activities are inspiration, ideation, and implementation, which occur across the five stages of the process:

  1. Empathize: Understand the reader. What do Viet Nam leaders and professional businesses want to know about Australia? How to make the report cover interesting for Business leaders to grab from desks? How to make the inside of the report easy to read and understand and uncluttered.
  1. Define: Define the problem and align it with business goals and readers. The main objective is for Vietnamese Leaders and Business professionals to come and explore doing business in Australia, the reports need to showcase Australian business environments pictures. Sample from National graphic magazine models, Forbes and Time were explored to create similar looks and feel which are already familiar to educated Vietnamese leaders.

  1. Ideate: Generate a range of cover ideas for possible designs, emphasizing creativity. For cover iteration, Darling Harbour in Sydney and the Australian Nature landscape were chosen to showcase Australian symbols. To make it aligned with the first report, the client decided to choose Darling Harbour to emphasize architecture and business as a symbol that is more recognizable in the world.

  1. Prototype: Explore potential designs by creating two mockups of the book to gather feedback from the client and printer. Mock-up book presented to client signed and submit to the printer.
  1. Production and reproduction: The first edition was printed, but No reprinted at the moment.
